State of Decay 3 emerges after four years of the initial announcement
State of Decay 3, the third entry in the open-world survival horror series, finally made an appearance during the Xbox Games Showcase. First announced in 2020, the game has remained mysterious since then, with only a cinematic trailer revealed that year. Now, another trailer has been shown, but still without a confirmed release date.
The new trailer suggests that the game takes place years after the zombie apocalypse, with an evolved threat dominating the landscape. Players are challenged to fight and rebuild, creating a life for their community of survivors.
Some familiar elements of the franchise, such as cooperative combat, permadeath, and frenetic action, were highlighted in the video, suggesting that the game will retain its essence, but with even bigger ambitions.
Since the acquisition of Undead Labs by Microsoft in 2018, the studio has had access to additional resources and full support, allowing them to work towards achieving the vision of State of Decay 3.
With the promise of a truly expansive shared world and enhanced customization features, fans eagerly await to see how the franchise will evolve in this new entry.
Meanwhile, the team continues to work hard to deliver an experience that is both familiar and innovative for players.
