Prolonged communication blackouts often raise all the alarms in the industry, but the progress reported by the channel 100% Star Wars brings a welcome breath of hope for those who had considered the project cancelled. The information reveals that the troubled remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remains alive in the Saber Interactive workshops, which supposedly restarted production from scratch about three years ago, right after taking the reins from Aspyr Media. The studio has been bolstering its creative team by reallocating professionals from various internal divisions to get the job done, an ambitious move that aims to restore the prestige of one of the most acclaimed RPGs on the planet.

If the team sticks to the schedule without new hurdles along the way, the public might see the first moving images as early as 2026. The publisher's plans point to The Game Awards, an event set for December, as the most likely stage for this official reveal.

There is the alternative to push the presentation to the Star Wars Celebration, set to take place between April 1 and 4 of 2027, in case the team prefers an audience 100% focused on the franchise.

Aiming for a release window in 2028 highlights the considerable distance that still separates us from getting our hands on the final product. Taking almost a decade between the premature announcement and the actual launch is a clear reflection of how the initial management of the project was chaotic. Even so, seeing Saber Interactive rebuilding the title with the care and scale of resources it truly deserves is a huge relief, proving that it is better to face a long wait than to receive a half-baked adaptation.
