Director of Black Myth: Wukong, affirms that surprises are coming!
One of the biggest games this year was Black Myth: Wukong for sure. The game was so big that it even got nominated by The Game Awards for game of the year, which definitely shows its strength. Of course, through journalists, if we look at the general public, the game was even more popular.
With all the success the game achieved, surely much more is yet to come in the future, and this is not me saying it, but rather the game director Feng Ji.
The game won the Game of the Year award, voted by fans at last night's Golden Joysticks, with Ji making the comment during his acceptance speech.
"Of course, you may have already completed our game," he said. "That is perfectly fine as well. Keep following us, and there might be some surprises waiting for you later this year."
At the very least, Xbox players are still waiting to get their hands on the game. Its release on the Microsoft platform was delayed as it needed more time for optimization, although rumors were circulating about a PlayStation exclusivity deal.
At the very least, Microsoft reiterated that the delay was not due to “platform limitations”. A release date has still not been given, three months after its launch, but it could still arrive before the end of the year.
More interestingly, Ji's comment also suggests that DLC is on the way. Back at launch, a FAQ on the game's website noted that DLC and "non-pay-to-win in-game purchases" may be released in the future.
Following the release, Bloomberg reported that Game Science was working on an expansion for the game, following in the footsteps of FromSoftware with their Elden Ring DLC.
Several rumors have also circulated that the DLC will be released in early 2025 to coincide with the Chinese New Year. So perhaps Ji's surprise is merely a release date announcement this side of Christmas. Looking at you, The Game Awards!
