Developed by Santa Monica Studio, the new project with the warrior will serve as a narrative starting point for the return of the Ghost of Sparta, maintaining direct connections between the two storylines.

Speculation from the community about the new setting gained momentum thanks to a subtle detail observed at the end of the presentation.

When taking the stage for the team’s official photos, actor Christopher Judge, the voice of the protagonist, wore a necklace adorned with an Egyptian symbol.

The accessory immediately references the warrior's journey through Egypt, an event depicted in the official comics released between God of War III and the Nordic phase of the series.

The visual clue is supported by the demonstration material shown at the event. The gameplay trailer for God of War: Laufey — set to release on PlayStation 5 on February 16, 2027 — revealed the presence of an Egyptian goddess in the plot, suggesting that the events experienced by the character will trigger the Spartan's next journey.

The team’s interest in the region has been long-standing. During the pre-production of the 2018 game, concept art showed Kratos and Atreus against creatures of Egyptian mythology, and data found in the files of God of War: Ragnarök already pointed to a hidden scene reinforcing this same path.

Without a disclosed release window for the main adventure, industry projections suggest that the character's return should debut exclusively on the future PlayStation 6.
